The Eighth ‘Foreign Language Center Monitoring Exams’ Conducted in 10 Different Languages

The eighth “Foreign Language Center Monitoring Exams,” aimed at Anadolu Imam Hatip high schools implementing foreign language preparatory programs, was held in 10 languages: Arabic, English, German, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Japanese, French, Italian, and Persian.

The exams were organized in cooperation with the General Directorate of Religious Education and Akdem Exam Center, conducted in four stages: listening, comprehension, reading, and writing. Students from our schools’ preparatory classes participated in the eighth “Foreign Language Center Monitoring Exams.”

The exams aimed to track the development of students in the four basic language skills (listening, comprehension, reading, and writing) and to enhance their language competencies. This milestone exam supports the growth of Arabic learning and Turkish learning while contributing to the development of Modern Standard Arabic and Modern Standard Turkish proficiencies.

This was the first time in Turkey that a central exam was conducted simultaneously in such a variety of foreign languages, marking a significant milestone in the field of language education.

The exams, held in 10 different languages, began at the same time in project schools across different provinces of Turkey. The eighth Foreign Language Monitoring Exam was conducted simultaneously in 28 provinces. The exam documents were sent to the provincial directorates of national education, where written exams and listening tests were supervised on the same day, while composition tests were held the following day. The fourth stage of the exam, the oral tests, were conducted online, giving each student a 5-minute speaking opportunity. A separate exam commission was established for each language.

The question preparation and oral exam follow-up process for these 10 different languages were managed by us at Akdem Exam Center. A total of 3,478 students participated in the exams from 96 schools, with the following participation: 80 from German, 687 from Arabic, 29 from Chinese, 53 from Persian, 50 from French, 2,438 from English, 62 from Spanish, 18 from Italian, 31 from Japanese, and 30 from Russian.

The importance that high school Imam Hatip students give to language education is evident in their participation in these comprehensive foreign language exams. Language education, which began in project Imam Hatip high schools in 2013 with only Arabic and English, has now reached a level of 10 different foreign languages. The diversification of education in recent years promises a hopeful future.

As Akdem Exam Center, we emphasize our ongoing academic support for Arabic teaching and Turkish teaching, sincerely congratulate our administrative staff and teachers who are committed to the journey of language education, and wish them continued success.
