In the Press: 8th Turkey Multilingual Debates 2025
The 8th Turkey Multilingual Debates 2025, organized in cooperation with the Academy of Language and Scientific Research Association, has officially started.
Speaking at the opening, İhsan Erkul, Head of the Department of Learning Processes and Social Activities at the Directorate General of Religious Education, emphasized that they are initiating impactful projects to raise students who are equipped not only professionally and academically but also socially and culturally.
He underlined that students from different provinces would come together to discuss global topics in various languages, as part of debates conducted in 11 languages across Türkiye.
“Social, cultural, and artistic activities are vital in preparing students for the future. We are raising a generation that is rooted in its own civilizational values, yet fully aware of the world around them. We will learn languages, understand global issues, advocate for the oppressed, and remain connected to our heritage.”
Strengthening Multilingual Expression
The debates aim to develop students’ capacity to use language effectively, generate original ideas, solve real-world problems, and express their thoughts confidently in public.
Students from Anatolian Imam Hatip High Schools with preparatory language programs competed in Arabic, English, Spanish, German, French, Persian, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, and Russian. Students from International Imam Hatip Schools competed in Turkish.
In the online quarterfinals, the participation included:
18 schools in Turkish
18 schools in Arabic
73 schools in English
2 in Spanish,
3 in German,
2 in Persian,
2 in French,
and 1 school each in Chinese, Japanese, Italian, and Russian.
The competition will conclude with semi-finals and final rounds in Arabic, English, Turkish, Spanish, German, French, and Persian.
