Completion of ‘Arabic-Turkish Translation Student Trainings’ in Collaboration with the Ministry of National Education and General Directorate of Religious Education

The “Arabic-Turkish Translation Trainings” were held from January 22 to 26, 2024, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, the General Directorate of Religious Education, the Academy of Language and Scientific Research Association, Akdemistanbul Language Education Institutions, and Introtema Copyright and Translation Agency, hosted by Istanbul International Fatih Sultan Mehmet Anadolu Imam Hatip High School.

The program aims to establish a special translation team of 20 high school students focused on translating Modern Standard Arabic into Turkish, where participating students will continue to receive further training and collaborate on translating some works into Turkish.

In addition to theoretical topics related to translation, practical examples were emphasized, and translation workshops were conducted. These workshops served as an opportunity to enhance Arabic learning and improve students’ linguistic abilities in Modern Standard Turkish.

Students from the 9th and 10th grades who scored 70 or above in the Arabic YDS/YÖKDİL/KPDS exams or those who had sufficient language proficiency after receiving Arabic teaching in preparatory programs participated in the trainings.

The certificate ceremony was attended online by the General Director of Religious Education, Ahmet İŞLEYEN, Istanbul Provincial Deputy Director of National Education, Ahmet YAPICI, Akdemistanbul Language Education Institutions Director, Serap ÖNGEL, Akdemistanbul Academic Coordinator, Kazım Ağcakaya, and Mahmut Hüseyin, who distributed certificates to our students. In his speech, Dr. Ahmet İŞLEYEN emphasized the significance of Arabic education in Imam Hatip schools and the importance of learning Arabic, one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Views regarding options for Arabic language courses, such as conversational Arabic, practical Arabic, and online Arabic, were also shared during the ceremony.

The program concluded with a trip organized in Istanbul on January 27, 2024, and an interview with our students on TRT Arabic Channel.
