Professor Dr. Ahmet Ağırakça

Founder

Born in Mardin in 1950, Ahmet Ağırakça graduated from Istanbul High Islamic Institute in 1973, and graduated from the department of History – Faculty of Literature at Istanbul University in 1975. He completed his PhD within the Medieval History of the Faculty of Literature at Istanbul University between 1979 and 1983. AĞIRAKÇA assumed the title of professor at Istanbul University Faculty of Literature in 1996. AĞIRAKÇA was appointed as the Rector for Mardin Artuklu University in 2014.
He has 15 copyrighted works and 13 translated publications.
AĞIRAKÇA played an important role in the establishment of a large number of Civil Society Organisations. Moreover he took part in some of these organizations as a board member and as a president.

Dr. Muhammed Ağırakça

General Director

Born in 1979, Muhammed AĞIRAKÇA graduated from the Faculty of Theology at Marmara University in 2001. He completed his master’s degree in 2004 and his PhD in 2010 at the Department of Theology, Institute of Social Sciences at Marmara University.
Between 2001 and 2007, AĞIRAKÇA worked as a teacher, as an administrator at high schools affiliated to Ministry of National Education and as an executive at the Directorate of Foreign Relations of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 2008.

Since 2009, AĞIRAKÇA has been working as the General Director of AkdemIstanbul Language Center. He also continues working within the Consultancy Services and the General Coordination for the International Arabic Competitions.
Having been involved in a number of projects with the Arabic world in the fields of education, publishing, and consultancy, AĞIRAKÇA also coordinates the International Istanbul Arabic Book Fair and the International Istanbul Fellowship Program.

Ahmad Al Ruhban

Head of the Arabic Language Department

Ahmad Al Ruhban was born in Damascus in 1981. He graduated with a BA in Arabic Language from the University of Damascus in 2004. He got his MA in Arabic Language Teaching in 2009 from Khartoum International Institute and his PhD in Language Education from Damascus University.

He worked as a member of the Faculty of Education at the University of Damascus – Higher Institute of Languages from 2009 to 2013, and as a lecturer at the University of Marmara – College of Islamic Sciences from 2014 to 2018.

Dr. Gülcan Karakaya

The Head of the Turkish  Language Department

Born in 1987

Graduated from Gazi University, Faculty of TurKish Language and Literature, Education Department in

2010

Completed master’s degree in Old TurKish Language at Istanbul University, Institute of Social Sciences in 2014

Enrolled in the PhD program in TurKish Language and Literature at Yildiz Technical University, Institute of Social Sciences in 2014

Since 2013, working in the field of Teaching Turkish to Foreigners

PhD completed in 2021

Currently the Head of TurKish Department at Akdemistanbul

Fahed Taweal

Head of the English Language Department

born in 1990 in Aleppo, Syria.

He graduated from the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of Aleppo.

He started his career as a teacher in 2011, accumulating approximately 11 years of English teaching experience in total.

He received his TurKish equivalence from YÖK in Turkey.

He holds a 120-Hour TESOL Teaching Certificate dated September 2019.

He attended the CELTA course and received his

CELTA Certificate (certificate for teaching English to adults) from ITI-Istanbul in July 2020.

He has worked at different private schools, language schools, and a university in Istanbul.

He has been working as the Academic Coordinator of the English Department at AKdemistanbul since October 2021.

Akram Zain

Head of the YÖS Department

Born in Damascus in 1980. Akram Zain graduated with a BSC – Maths Department from the University of Damascus in 2009

He taught at several high school in Damascus and its countryside between 2002 – 2016

He began teaching YOS courses for Arab students in Turkey in 2017

He started working as the Head of the YÖS Department at Akdemistanbul in 2022

Serap Öngel

Arabic Administrative Coordinator & Courses Director

Born in Ardahan in 1984, Serap ÖNGEL has graduated from the Department of Computer Science at Süleyman Demirel University in 2006 and from the Department of Business at EsKisehir Anadolu University in 2012.

She worked as a Computer Teacher between 2006 and 2008, and then worked as the Public Relations Director at AKdemistanbul in 2009.

In 2015 Öngel worked as the coordinator for AKdemistanbul Foreign Course Programmes and since 2019, she has been working as the Arabic Administrative Coordinator and the Director of Arabic Courses at Akdemistanbul.

Hassan Almahdi

Coordinator of Turkish, YÖS courses and Director of the University Services Department.

born in 1982 in Syria.

He studied at the Faculty of Law at Damascus University in 2006.

He began working as an office manager at the Damascus Municipality in 2001 and remained in this position for 12 years.

In 2017, he assumed the role of coordinator for Turkish language courses and the Turkish university acceptance test (YÖS), as well as the director of the University Services Department at Akdem Istanbul.

Mohamed Naji

Executive Manager

born in Medina Munawara / Saudi Arabia in 1977.

He studied Political and Economic Sciences at the Lebanese University, and Business Administration at the Arab University.

He holds several certificates specialized in paper and electronic publishing from the Frankfurt Academy in Germany, and a certificate of strategic planning for sales and marketing operations from the Oxford Academy.

He worked as an executive manager for several companies specialized in paper and electronic publishing in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UK, Lebanon and Türkiye

He planned, supervised and implemented a number of educational projects with the ministries of education in Turkey, Saudi Arabia and The Gambia, in addition to a number of projects in cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the World Islamic Youth Forum (WAMY), the Association of Islamic Schools in Britain (AMS), the Islamic Da’wa Organization in Sudan (MADA), and with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

Serdar Dündar

Accounting Manager

Born in Ankara in 1985, Serdar Dündar graduated from the Department of Business at Bozok University in 2008.

He started to work as an accountant in 2009 and he also worked as a public relations and payroll expert at Türksat Co.

Since 2013 he has been working as the Accounting Manager at Akdemistanbul.

Kazım Ağcakaya

Corporate Training Coordinator

He was born in Kayseri in 1963.

He completed his elementary, secondary and university education in Kayseri. He graduated from the Faculty of Theology at Erciyes University in 1988.

He worked at Sariyer Imam Hatip High School in Istanbul and Istanbul Imam Hatip High School.

In the year 2014, he retired from civil service after working as an Arabic language coordinator in Kartal Anatolian High School for the Preparatory Classes for 3 years.

He completed his master’s degree in the science of Kalam at Marmara University.

He took part various civil society organisations. He has published copyrighted works and translated works within his field.

He has been working as the Academic Coordinator for Corporate Training Programmes in Akdemistanbul.

Melike Demir

Akdemistanbul’s Turkish Department Vice President for Foreigners and Acamic Coordinator

She was born in Istanbul in 1989. She graduated from Istanbul University in 2012 with degrees in Turkish Language and Literature – Philosophy.

In 2015, he completed her master’s degree in New Turkish Language at Istanbul University, and she is currently pursuing her PhD in New Turkish Language at Istanbul University. Since 2011, she has been teaching Turkish to foreigners.

She started working at Akdemistanbul in 2012 as a Turkish language instructor. In 2021, she was appointed as the Vice President of the Turkish Department for Foreigners and Academic Coordinator at Akdemistanbul.

Mahmut Hüseyin

The Academic Supervisor of the External Institutions Department

He was born in 1991 in the city of Aleppo, Syria.

– Graduate of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, University of Aleppo, 2013.

* Diploma in Educational Qualification, UNICEF in collaboration with the Turkish Directorate of Education.

* Ten years of experience teaching Arabic to non-native speakers in schools, institutes, and universities.

* Developer of educational materials, co-author of several educational series.

Certified trainer, Department of Qualification and Training.

He started working at the Akdemistanbul in 2018 as an Arabic language teacher.

In 2022, he became the academic supervisor of the External Institutions Department.

Amal Alarran

International Relation Officer

Born in Raqqa, Syria, in 1986.

Currently studying Political Science and International Relations at Istanbul University.

Worked as an Administrative Assistant at Future

Emirates Livestock Company in 2014.

Served as a Shadow Teacher at the Creative Science School in Sharjah, part of the Bukhatir Group, in 2018.

Began working as an Educational Consultant at Akdemistanbul in 2022.

Became the International Relation Officer at the Akdemistanbul in 2024.
