The Finals of the 11th Arabic Knowledge and Activity Competitions Were Held in Konya
The finals of the 11th Arabic Knowledge and Activity Competitions, organized by the Ministry of National Education and overseen by the Academy of Language and Scientific Research Association and Akdem Istanbul Language Education Institutions, were held at the Mevlana Cultural Center of the Konya Metropolitan Municipality. The event saw the participation of 4,930 students from 79 provinces.
In this year’s competitions, Imam Hatip high schools competed in the categories of Arabic Knowledge, Arabic Poetry Reading, and Arabic Calligraphy, while Imam Hatip middle schools showcased their talents in Arabic Poetry Reading and Arabic Children’s Songs categories.
Due to the pandemic and the subsequent “catastrophe of the century,” the finals and award ceremony for the 11th Arabic Competitions among Imam Hatip Schools, which could not be held for three years, were conducted under the auspices of the Directorate General of Religious Education on June 10-11.
The program of the 11th Turkish Finals of Arabic Knowledge and Activity Competitions began with the National Anthem, a recitation of the Quran, and a promotional film presentation. Attendees included Dr. Ahmet İşleyen, the Director General of Religious Education; Murat Yiğit, the Provincial Director of National Education in Konya; Osman Demirgül, Department Head of the Turkish Maarif Foundation; Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ağırakça, Chairman of the Academy of Language and Scientific Research Association; and other relevant individuals.
Various gifts were awarded to the students who ranked in the competition and their guiding teachers. Dr. Ahmet İşleyen thanked the Provincial Directorate of National Education in Konya, the Academy of Language and Scientific Research Association, the Turkish Imam Hatip Foundation, the Konya ÖNDER Imam Hatip Association, the Turkish Anatolian Foundation, and the Konya Metropolitan and Karatay Municipalities for their support in hosting the 11th Arabic Knowledge and Activity Competitions. He also congratulated the teachers and students for their remarkable efforts.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ağırakça, in his speech, highlighted the growing success of Modern Standard Arabic education in Turkey. He congratulated the students for their achievements in the Arabic competitions and emphasized the importance of such programs in promoting Arabic learning and Arabic teaching.
The students gained everyone’s appreciation with their Arabic skills.
On the first day of the competitions, there was a performance by the Imam Hatip middle school students. The students left their mark on the finals with their magnificent performances, receiving great applause from the audience for their presentations in the poetry reading and children’s songs categories.
In poetry, the students of the Istanbul Mimar Sinan Hafızlık Project Imam Hatip Middle School won first place, while in children’s songs, the students of Gaziantep Şehit Muhammed Emin Çelik Imam Hatip Middle School took first place.
The final day of the two-day competitions featured performances and excitement from the Imam Hatip high school students. Students praised for their proficiency in Modern Standard Turkish secured first place in poetry from Adıyaman Şehit Necati Sayın Anadolu Imam Hatip High School, while students from Istanbul Kartal Anadolu Imam Hatip High School won first place in the knowledge competition.
