Born in Mardin in 1950, Ahmet Ağırakça was graduated from Istanbul High Islamic Institute in 1973, and graduated from the department of History - Faculty of Letters at Istanbul University in 1975. He completed his PhD within the Medieval History of the Faculty of Letters at Istanbul University between 1979 and 1983. AĞIRAKÇA assumed the title of professor at Istanbul University Faculty of Letters in 1996. AĞIRAKÇA was appointed as the Rector for Mardin Artuklu University in 2014 and has 15 copyrighted works and 13 translated publications. AĞIRAKÇA played an important role in the establishment of a large number of Civil Society Organisations and held positions as a member in the boards of directors or as a president at some of these organisations.
